"It almost seems the stuff they decided to put out as downloads, were things that they don't think worthy of release on c.d."

I had the same impression. Might not be true of the '80s selections, but for the picks up to '77, it does seem like these shows were picked just for 'rarity' value (the circulating sources were incomplete or had poor sound), but were not up to being 'Dick's Picks'-grade.
It doesn't matter much now, since they discontinued the series long ago!
And I should add, an "OK" show from '72/73 is still pretty good stuff.

The entire series is (I believe) available for streaming on Spotify - along with Dick's Picks, and an overall pretty good selection of GD stuff.

Thanks for the info --

Agree with you on the Amazon stuff -- who the hell would pay money for an MP3 file.

Where can you still download them-- i.e., buy the FLAC files-- anyone have any idea?

Thanks

Even though 72/73 has been pretty well covered with releases , I still welcome more ! Sure wish they would do more with that Acadmey of Music run in early 72 , for example .

Wouldn’t it be sweet if the download series was continued and greatly expanded even.
Whatever the quality of uncirculated shows in the vault may be, we want to hear them!

You can still get some of these at Nugs.net. It's a pain in the ass trying to sign in. Then try to find the link, where you must open an account. I hate all of this e-mail and password shit. Livedownloads.com is a crappy website that could use a major overhaul. http://www.nugs.net/Grateful_Dead.htm AMAZON.com has some of these downloads in MP-3 format only. They don't even mention if those are the 128 KBS or 256 KBS files. Why are we stuck dealing with such MORONS?
